New Speakers Confirmed
CGS Ecuador 2023 has sessions featuring leading-edge environmental and social practices from to help ensure projects are sustainable and meet the needs of host communities and government. These are must-see sessions for anyone interested in mineral exploration and development in Ecuador and the region.
We have expects in the water-related aspects of environmental baseline studies (Patrick Williamson of Intera), including cutting-edge technology from the UK (Joe Huddart of Nature Metrics) for the identification of species in a project area, as well as rethinking the often adversarial relationship between agriculture and mining (Romulo Mucho of AgroMin), and an example of how a project can be designed for sustainability (Ximena Quizanga of Torata Mining).
Mining can provide a massive economic boost to a region. At CGS Ecuador, we look beyond the actual project to the broader economic benefits that mining companies can help provide their host regions, including how mining can be a catalyst for Indigenous economic development (Federico Velasquez of Solaris Resources), mining and social innovation (Rebeca Illescas of Universidad UTE), poverty reduction (Nathan Monash of Lundin Gold) and stakeholder engagement (Guillen Calvo of Insuco). This session will also feature the first CGS Economic Development Awards and the WIM Ecuador scholarship awards.
